One of the founding principles of Alpha Omicron Pi is to be of service to others - to bring into the world around us a spirit of love, not for self-glory, but as an opportunity to give something back to our communities. Alpha Omicron Pi's international philanthropy supports arthritis, juvenile arthritis, and related diseases. Arthritis Research was chosen because it's the nation's leading cause of disability. Since adopting Arthritis Research as its international philanthropy in 1967, Alpha Omicron Pi has raised millions of dollars for grants and research.
The Beta Gamma Chapter of Alpha Omicron Pi hosts two philanthropy events every school year. In the fall Alpha Omicron Pi hosts Smoke Out Arthritis, a barbecue dinner hosted at the AOII house with proceeds benefiting the Arthritis Foundation. In the Spring they hold their annual "Strike Out Arthritis" dodge ball tournament.
