What are the costs of joining a sorority?
The registration fee for Formal Recruitment is $75 (July 24th deadline) or $125 (August 8th deadline). It is due when you submit your application form online. The costs associated with the individual chapters after joining vary from sorority to sorority. We highly encourage potential new members to ask about financial costs of each chapter during the first round of Recruitment. It is a very common topic of conversation, and should not be an awkward question.
The average (these are only averages, some may be higher or lower) dues for each semester are as follows:
- First semester average: $1800 - includes sorority house meal plan, one-time national fees, pledging, initiation, house dues, social dues, etc.
- Subsequent semesters average: $1500 - includes sorority house meal plan, house dues, social dues, etc.
- Most sororities require members to live in the house at some point. Rent, per semester, averages $1200.
